Horizon House
Prahran, Melbourne
Horizon House is a carefully considered residential extension that balances heritage character with the needs of contemporary family living. Spanning two levels and 280m², the project reworks the existing home to create a more functional and fluid floor plan. The design prioritises openness and connection between spaces, supporting the evolving rhythms of modern family life while respecting the scale and structure of the original dwelling.
A defining feature of the project is its material expression. Raw brick finishes are retained and celebrated, providing a sense of texture and permanence, while a soft green palette introduces warmth and subtle contrast. Bathrooms and key moments throughout the home are elevated with feature stone basins and ribbed texture profiles, adding depth and refinement without overpowering the overall composition.
The extension is designed to sit comfortably within its context, maintaining the heritage feel of the residence while quietly introducing contemporary elements. This balance allows the home to feel both familiar and renewed—grounded in its history yet adapted for present-day living.
Located in Prahran, this residence delivers a tailored outcome for a private homeowner, where considered design enhances both daily function and long-term livability.
