Manton’s Cellar Door
Shoreham, Mornington Peninsula
Manton’s Creek Estate Cellar Door is a compact yet immersive hospitality fitout that centres the wine tasting experience through materiality, atmosphere, and spatial focus.
Spanning approximately 30m², the design is anchored by a central tasting bar, establishing a clear focal point within the space. This element is complemented by rustic, aged tiling underfoot and custom timber joinery that frames the retail bottle display, creating a layered and tactile environment.
Material selections draw directly from the surrounding landscape and the history of the vineyard. Leather detailing to the bar face, combined with soft lighting pendants, introduces warmth and depth, while maintaining an earthy, grounded palette. The existing high ceilings and exposed trusses are retained, adding a sense of volume and drama that elevates the otherwise intimate footprint.
The cellar door is conceived as more than a point of sale—it is a place for tasting, learning, and social engagement. The layout encourages interaction, allowing visitors to connect with both the product and the story behind it.
Located in Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula, the project responds to the legacy of the site, home to some of the region’s oldest vines. This history informs the design narrative, with finishes and textures referencing the strength and character of established root systems. The cellar door also supports the adjacent restaurant and broader hospitality offering, contributing to both local engagement and the regional visitor experience.
Manton’s Creek Cellar Door provides a considered destination for locals and visitors alike—an environment that is intimate, expressive, and intrinsically tied to place.
